It was just last weekend when the Los Angeles Rams saw their playoff chances end with a loss to the San Francisco 49ers. On Sunday, they’ll be playing out the string with their final game against the Arizona Cardinals. We will preview the game below and provide our NFL pick for this game being played on the Rams home field. Last seasons Super Bowl runner-ups would still like to go out on a high note to finish with a winning 9-7 record. They will be a solid favorite against the Arizona Cardinals with most NFL predictions listing them as a 7.5 point favorite.
The Cardinals record sits at 5-9-1 entering the game, but they have actually won two straight games and would like nothing more than to finish on a high note going into the offseason. Last years top overall NFL pick Kyler Murray has played in every game and has had a solid rookie season. Despite being limited by a hamstring injury, Murray is expected to take the field against Los Angeles. Late season addition Kenyan Drake has made an impact in the running game, piling up 166 yards rushing in last weeks win over the Seattle Seahawks.
For the Rams, quarterback Jared Goff has had an up and down season but has still been under center for every game. He has passed for as many as 517 yards in a game (earlier this season against Tampa Bay), and as little as 78 yards in a game against the 49ers. But it may be the defense that has let them down the most recently, giving up a total of 78 points in the last two weeks in losses to the Cowboys and the 49ers.
Will we see a repeat of their previous game?
On December 1st in Arizona, it was Los Angeles cruising to a 34-7 victory. Goff passed for 424 yards and running back Todd Gurley rushed for close to 100 yards in the win. The chances are good the Rams will be able to move the ball and score enough points to stay ahead of the Cardinals, especially with Murray limited.
Which team has more to play for?
Since both teams have been eliminated from the playoffs, there is really not a lot on the line. As mentioned, Arizona is a team building for the future and a win gives them a nice momentum push going into the offseason. The Rams are playing in front of their home crowd and finishing with a winning record is always a good thing. But the game probably means more to the Cardinals when Sunday rolls around.
Arizona Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Rams NFL Pick and Prediction
This is a little tricky given the circumstances. Will the Rams just be content to get the win, or will they be out to win big and cover the 7.5 point spread? The total points for this one is set at 45.5 points, and betting the over may be the smarter play of the two. We see the final being something like 31-28 Rams.
