In a rematch of a Week 1 matchup, the Chicago Bears will ride a three-game winning streak into legendary Lambeau Field to take on Aaron Rodgers and the division-leading Green Bay Packers on Sunday. The two teams kicked off the season in Chicago, which yielded a 10-3 Green Bay victory. There were not many performances worth nothing from that matchup with the exception of Bears outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, who recorded a couple of sacks.
Since then, things have pretty much gone as anticipated, as Aaron Rodgers is having a solid, if unspectacular, season, and the Packers are 10-3. Meanwhile, the Bears have regressed from a surprising 12-4, division-winning season in 2018.
Mitchell Trubisky has experienced regression across the board, but he also isn’t getting a ton of help from his offensive line. The third-year quarterback has already been sacked four more times than all of last season. The Bears’ receiving corps also leads in dropped passes with 23.
The Packers finally boast their full array of top-tier weapons, as Davante Adams looks healthy, recording 17 receptions and three touchdowns in his last three games, while Rodgers has been his stingy self, tossing only two picks on the entire season. Running back Aaron Jones has also established himself as a star this season, recording 15 total trips to the end zone.
Green Bay is a four-point favorite playing at home in this one, while the over/under has been set at 40.5.
Ready To Hibernate?
Despite the success in recent weeks, the Bears didn’t gain much in the standings because none of their opponents have been named the Vikings or the Packers. From a wagering perspective, they are a safe fade, at 2-7 ATS over the last nine weeks, 1-5 ATS on the road, and 4-9 overall on the season. The numbers speak for themselves.
Getting Packed Up For The Playoffs
Green Bay may be playing well right now, but the Packers are coming off of a game against Washington, where they didn’t really take advantage of a bad Redskins defense. In fact, Green Bay has gone under in four of its last five games while being 2-3 ATS during that time.
Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers NFL Pick and Prediction
This game opened at Green Bay -7 as bettors are recognizing that the Packers’ offense has been lacking lately. However, Chicago is just 3-3 on the road this season, while the Packers are 6-1 at home. Neither team has been great ATS in recent weeks, but it is a lot easier to pick Rodgers at home than Trubisky and that offensive line on the road.
The easiest play is the under, as both teams trend that way, and it will be bitterly cold on Sunday. Given that the juice is the same on both sides, the safest bet is the Packers to cover at home.
