Houston Roughnecks vs. Dallas Renegades XFL Pick, Prediction & Preview

Houston Roughnecks vs. Dallas Renegades

The point totals are probably about right, so whatever side of the 50 points you choose could be a little risky XFL pick.

Week 4 of the XFL schedule is upon us and there is a good matchup in Dallas as the undefeated Houston Roughnecks travel to Texas to play the 2-1 Renegades. Follow our game preview with XFL pick and prediction. It will be the most interesting game of Week 4 and will give Dallas a chance to put the first blemish on the Roughnecks record. The game will be carried by FS1 at 4 PM ET on Sunday, March 1st, 2020.

However, it won’t be easy as Houston appears to be functioning on all cylinders with quarterback P.J. Walker under center. Walker leads the XFL in passing with 748 yards and 10 touchdown passes against just one interception in just three games on the young season. In the backfield, James Butler has been solid rushing for 130 yards on just 23 carries on the season and has scored two touchdowns.

It’s defensively where Houston has not been at their best. Although they have won all three games, the defense has allowed a total of 68 points to their opponents for an average of almost 23 points per game. And that number may not improve as they head into a road game this weekend.

On the other hand, Dallas has won two in a row since their opening week loss to the St. Louis BattleHawks. However, they are 2-0 since Landry Jones entered the lineup at quarterback and are hoping that his presence could make the difference in this game. Running back Cameron Artis-Payne leads the running game with 185 yards on just 29 carries, for a 6.4 yards per carry average and two touchdowns. Read more of preview, XFL pick and prediction.

Can the Renegade defense slow down Houston?

Well, it depends what you mean by “slow down.” But if you look at the numbers, Dallas is only allowing an average of 15 points per game through the first three contests, and they should be fired up to move into a first place tie with the Roughnecks in the XFL West with a win. One of the keys for Dallas will be to avoid turning the ball over.

Will P.J. Walker continue to play well?

Walker is an early candidate for league MVP, especially if he continues to perform at this level. The odds are he will, with weapons like Butler and receivers Cam Phillips and Kahlil Lewis supporting him. Phillips leads the league with 20 catches for 324 yards and seven touchdowns while Lewis chips in with 15 catches of his own.

Houston Roughnecks vs. Dallas Renegades XFL Pick and Prediction

This game is virtually a pick-em although Houston is listed as a slim 1-point favorite. Oddsmakers are expecting some scoring in this one with the points listed at 50 total between the two teams. I would expect a close and competitive game, but when all is said and done, the Roughnecks offense will be a little too much for the Renegades and I see Houston coming out with the victory. The point totals are probably about right, so whatever side of the 50 points you choose could be a little risky XFL pick.
