The Green Bay Packers will host the road warrior Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs on Sunday evening, and we have your NFL preview of the contest. Green Bay comes in at 13-3 and winner of five in a row overall and five in a row at home and is the NFL pick as the favorite in this game. The Seahawks boast a 12-5 record and an 8-1 mark on the road after defying the NFL prediction of a loss in the Wild Card round.
Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers is having a mediocre season by his standards but posted a pristine 26-to-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio on the season. The 36-year-old signal-caller is responsible for just four turnovers (two interceptions, two fumbles) since Week 7.
After a slow start to the season, Rodgers has also rekindled his rapport with receiver Davante Adams, who posted 27 receptions, 312 yards and two touchdowns over the final three weeks of the regular season.
Seattle continues to pound the pavement after eliminating the Philadelphia Eagles in the City of Brotherly Love last weekend. As of this preview, defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney has not been suspended/ruled out for the game following a “questionable” hit on Carson Wentz that left the Philadelphia quarterback concussed and unable to return.
Russell Wilson posted a solid, if unspectacular, 18-of-30 for 325 yards and a touchdown against Philadelphia. The MVP candidate also rushed for 45 yards on nine carries and didn’t turn the ball over.
Green Bay is a four-point favorite playing at home, with the over/under set at 46.5. Read more of preview, NFL pick and prediction.
Seahawks Look For Ninth Road Win
The Seahawks are one of the best road teams in the NFL after years of boasting one of the most intimidating home-field advantages in the league. Seattle is a stellar 6-2-1 against the spread on the road and has a 4-5 record in the over/under away from home.
Despite their successes in regards to record, the Seahawks have been less than spectacular defensively on the road, ranking 22nd in passing yards allowed and 21st in rushing yards allowed. The Seahawks are also 0-4-1 against the spread in their last five games versus the Packers.
Packing Up And Heading To Miami?
The Packers completed a somehow under-the-radar 13-3 season in 2019. Green Bay was a stellar 10-6 against the spread overall and 5-3 ATS in the friendly confines of Lambeau Field.
The Packers were the exact opposite of both in regards to the over/under at 6-10 overall and 3-5 at home. The total has gone over in four of Green Bay’s last five games against Seattle.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Green Bay Packers NFL Pick and Prediction
Both teams are evenly matched as far as offensive and defensive rankings. This very well could end up being the best game of the entire playoffs as it features two of the top five quarterbacks in the NFL.
The Packers at home are hard to bet against, especially given the talent in the backfield and Seattle’s propensity to surrender rushing yards (120-plus in each of the last five games). Aaron Jones and Jamal Williams form one of the best backfield duos in the league.
It is time for Seattle’s road success to regress, but it will still cover. Look for Rodgers to lead a late scoring drive to win the game by three. Play the over.
