The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Seattle Seahawks in the last game of Wild Card weekend in the NFL, as we’ve got an NFL pick and preview of the contest. The Seahawks have already won in Philadelphia once this season, which makes it a little difficult to make an NFL prediction for this game. We’ll take a look at the details and help you make an NFL pick for this playoff contest.
The Eagles won four games in a row to close out the 2019 regular season and snatch the NFC East division title from the Dallas Cowboys and host a playoff game. Philadelphia’s defense played well down the stretch, holding opponents to just 17.5 points per game.
Quarterback Carson Wentz threw seven touchdowns against zero interceptions in the final month of the season. The sometimes enigmatic signal-caller logged a completion rate of over 67 percent and a rating over 100 to sew up the division title while going 4-0 against fellow NFC East opponents.
The Seahawks’ arrival in the playoffs has been significantly bumpier. Pete Carroll’s group has lost three of four coming into the Wild Card round and is averaging just 19 points per game over their last four contests.
The Seattle offense has looked out of sorts since its recent rash of injuries that have kept Rashad Penny, Chris Carson, CJ Procise, and Duane Brown out of the lineup. Penny and Carson are done for the season, but Brown is questionable for Sunday’s game.
Marshawn Lynch returned to the Seattle backfield last weekend but managed just 2.8 yards per carry on 12 rushes.
The Seattle Seahawks are two-point favorites on the road, with the over/under set at 46.
Flying Under The Radar?
You cannot deny that Russell Wilson had a fantastic season, but without two of his best offensive weapons and a key part of his offensive line, it’s no wonder things have been rough. If Brown is able to return, that will go a long way towards getting this Seattle offense running correctly again.
Seattle is an incredible 7-1 straight up on the road this season and 5-2-1 against the spread on the road. The Seahawks split the over/under at 4-4. Seahawks games have gone over in 13 of their last 20 against NFC opponents.
Return Wentz You Came
Last season, Wentz was injured and didn’t see any playoff action. The season before that, he was also injured as Nick Foles led the Eagles to the Super Bowl crown. Now is the time for Wentz to endear himself to the Philly faithful and take that next step towards being a franchise quarterback.
The over is 5-1 in the last Philadelphia/Seattle matchups, though this time should be different, as the Eagles’ strength at home is also the Seahawks’ weakness on the road, which is passing yards. Philadelphia is just 3-5 against the spread at home with an over/under of 2-6.
Which Bird Will Fly Highest?
Both teams have injury concerns; Seattle’s are noted above, but the Eagles have been suffering all season. Brandon Brooks is done for the season, but Lane Johnson still has a chance to play. Miles Sanders should see time, but Zach Ertz has to be done, regardless of what reports are coming out of camp, after he suffered a lacerated kidney.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL Pick and Prediction
If Brown plays for Seattle, you have to like the Seahawks in this game. The safest NFL pick is the under, however. When these teams met in Week 12, the playmakers were there, and the game ended 17-9 in favor of Seattle.
The Eagles’ offense is going to look very similar to that week’s matchup. I’m taking Seattle to cover and absolutely playing the under.
